New recruit, Stephen (Rocky) Rock brings both exceptional musical talent and account management skills to the expanding FMI team. He joins us from the finance department at Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Previously he worked on fundraising and events management for the English National Opera. This mean he’s no stranger to accounting or events management – the perfect combination for a job at FMI.
Stephen is largely responsible for our day-to-day accounting. He works closely with each member of the team, managing cash flow, raising invoices for projects and ensuring that suppliers are paid on time. He also reports on projects so that the events team can keep a close eye on how much they are spending. He is also developing his skills as a management accountant, studying in his spare time for qualifications at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He has a good head for figures and to the surprise of many, confesses to enjoy nothing more than getting stuck into big complex-looking spread sheets.
True to his musical background, Stephen is a keen trumpeter and plays in several amateur orchestras in and around Oxford. We hear he also owns an unnecessarily large DVD collection.
